Absolutely awesome
So I have been able to play around with this smoker for a couple years now and let me tell you it is awesome. The bad up front, takes a minute to learn your pit, as with most. This one is a little different with the air intake being up high. Once your learn the fine tuning of the air, man that thing is almost a set and forget about it thing. Another downside is that if you do have to add more wood or charcoal you have to take out the food and grate and heat shield ( if using it) add whatever and then put everything back in. And lastly the surface area of the grate is limited as in maybe two butts or one full brisket or two racks of ribs ( if laying out flat). The upside is that this rig will make some amazing food and the versatility of it is hands down better than the competition. The included bars and hooks make hanging an incredible option for hanging sausages, chicken or chicken quarters( you’ll never have to fill the chicken pieces this way, or even hanging ribs. I have even used it for salmon to give it a slight smoky taste and cooked beans in cast iron and it added good flavor. Buy one and let your imagination run you will be glad you did

Decent smoker, customer service sucks
The smoker itself works pretty good. Held a steady temperature throughout a 10 hour cook. Only problem I had was with the temperature gage. It was a full 80° off from a probe I had on the grate. I called customer service and they blew me off. Telling me it was working fine. She told me temperatures will vary between the grate and the side gauge. Really??? They were only 2 inches apart, and 80° difference. Anyway, the smoker works fine, but you’ll have to dish out money for a temperature probe to accurately control the temp. And don’t bother with customer service, because they suck!

Absolute rib machine!
I bought mine when Walmart was clearing them out. Mine has the mis-manufactured air tube, but it works fine When direct cooking, the thermometer is not useful. I’ll probably ad a probe into the lid eventually.Parts are seriously stout, as with all OKJ products I’ve seen. Don’t plan on moving it much. . To do it over, I’d invest in a bag of stainless button head screws to assemble. 14months uncovered, outside in MI, and I have no noticeable rust. The thing makes perfect ribs. Small slabs can hang in one piece, large ones are usually bet cut in half. Other favorites are spatched chicken, drums and wings, direct cooked steaks and burgers (lid open for nice sear).a second grate would be nice for added capacity.

Awesome smoker
Awesome smoker. It held temps steady at 270 degrees for 4hrs with no issues. Setting your temps are very easy and as so. As temp is set that’s it (set it and forget it).

I took away a star because of you don’t steal the leaks then grease will leak out. But besides that The Bronco Pro is awesome. I did a 13lb brisket. Started it at midnight and was finished the next day. Probably the best smoker out there.

An Awesome Smoker
I have fallen in love with this smoker. I have had another smoker that I paid more than twice what this one cost, but I have never been quite satisfied with it. I have been looking at this model now for a couple of years and I decided to go ahead and purchase it. Best investment I’ve made in years. This is a great grill. I was surprised at how heavy it was. My neighbor assembled the grill out of the box for me in about 45 minutes.I have since cooked ribs and chicken on it a couple of times and the results were amazing. This will definitely be my go to grill. The Boston butts and briskets will be smoking in the very near future. I don’t think you will be disappointed with this smoker. I did a lot of research before making my purchase I did not find anything near the quality of this smoker at the same price point.

Great value and amazing results!
Very happy with my new drum smoker. I feel this is an incredible value for the performance. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but really, not hard to be successful even on your first cook/smoke…and really, all that learning is really the fun part playing around with different fuel types! Only “downside” I would say is the weight as it is a beast; though that’s one of the reason it’s so good at holding temp so steady. So, even with the price increase from last year on this smoker/grill, still very worth the money. If you’re on the fence or debating between this and another, pull the trigger…you won’t regret it!

Easy to put together and easy to use
Super easy to put together. Really easy to use and you tube has a lot of vids to help. I did heat seal between all points putting smoker together. And would suggest a digital temp gauge in drum. Gauge that came with smoker was 75 degrees off.

Love the Bronco pro!
Easy assembly and first burn (no food) to season the smoker and burn off any construction residue.First cook: St. Louis ribs, polish sausage, and, 8.5 lb pork shoulder. Temp mainanence was easy once the dampers were trimmed out. Very even heat. Ribs took 4.5 hours, sausage 1.5, shoulder 13! One full lump charcoal load easily went the distance without adding more. Temp steady at 260F most of the cook, adding wood for smoke every few hours. Very happy with the result. Beautiful pink smoke ring on pork and very moist and tender.Must say, it is all I hoped it would be. Tight lid, lots of cooking space, easy clean up, and a great by for under 800 USD.

I had been looking at these smokers for a while. They seemed to be a great cooker so I finally pulled the trigger to get one. It was easy to put together and the directions were great. Everything came packaged up really good. I have done multiple cooks in it now and it has been great. It holds temps really good and is easy to get going. If you are looking for versatile and easy smoker this one I would say fits the bill. It is built pretty heavy as well it weights 175lbs but it is easy to move around once assembled.

Amazing smoker
I use the Weber as a smoker and there is a big difference between a real smoker and a Weber grill the flavor is better on a real smoker and I am very happy with this Oklahoma Joe the only thing is around the Assembly of the two barrels you would need to put some sort of high temperature sealant in order to keep grease from dripping through the sides. The smoker will last you about a good 10 12 hours depending how much charcoal you put in the basket but my brisket and my pork shoulder have came out perfect and delicious. Also the temperature on this smoker is very accurate very consistent making it easy to cook for long hours.

Awesome little pit.
This is a great little pit. What I love about it, is it holds temperature. Whether you want 200,225,250. The cooking area is perfect for my family of 4. You can get quite a bit of food going on when you hang it. I have smoked brisket, baby back ribs, Kansas City ribs, chickens, Tri tip, and salmon. Everything has come out amazing. The only thing I would say in a negative way, is you only get about 10 hours of heat. But then again, most things can be done in that time period. Otherwise you have to pull everything apart, And reload it with charcoal.

EXCELLENT
I could not be more pleased! I have smoked several butts, slabs, and cooked an ENTIRE Thanksgiving dinner ( our oven went out that morning) on this grill not to mention several steaks, hot dogs, smoked and grilled chicken and salmon, you name we’ve cooked it on this grill! We have been using lump charcoal and have smoked butts for 12 hours (low and slow) without having to add charcoal. The temperature has been easy to maintain it has been such a pure joy to cook on this thing I will DEFINITELY purchase another for our vacation place!

Holds up to the hype, awesome smoker, however….
So this thing is a beast! She holds temp like a champ and can do a mixture of 8″ splits with charcoal brickettes without issue. I was nervous about the heavier blue smoke boardering on white, however, this did not add any bitterness to the meat at all! This is because of it’s highly efficient airflow design, kinda like if an offset had a tall stack and wide air intake. So about 7 lbs of Royal Oak charcoal brickettes and four splits lasted 14 hours which saves you a ton on fuel! Just be sure to light at the center of the coal tray. The best part is it does not leak any smoke! Now, it’s important that you seal the two barrel halves and the air intake tube connecting at the bottom barrel with Lavalock Black RTV Silicone. Also coat the inner bolts where the two barrel halves connect and the three inner bolts of the air intake at the bottom barrel. This is because it will leak the avacado oil from the burn in and will leak rendered fat.Next, you want at least a 12″ shallow pizza pan (plate style) because the drip cup will overflow with large fatty items like brisket. Also, the thermostats are NOT calibrated as they claim, so you will need to do this yourself. Just use pliers on the stem and apply enough pressure to hold the stem still while you turn the main display.Do these things and this will be a frustration free top notch smoker for years to come! The only two recommendations I would make to Oklahoma Joe’s / Char-Griller is to get rid of the removable drip cup, keep the recess and use a side valve instead. Then replace the current thermostat with an adjustable one. This will make for absolute perfection! In any case this smoker is worth the investment, and if you do it right, by taking it lower and slower, you can achieve those offset smoker flavor profiles.

Fantastic smoker
The OK Bronco is a phenomenal cooker. I stepped away from the world of smoking when I moved out of state and recently jumped back into smoking foods again. Burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, pizza and even a bologna chub was done after initial burn in and seasoning. Bang for the buck this as a great drum cooker. Sturdy and heavy, easy to use and holds temp perfectly.

Easy as it gets without going pellet.
I like to mix lump with Kingsford charcoal for extra flavor. Add 3 decent size chunks of wood and it comes out awesome with lots of compliments. You’ll see complaints of the temp gauge being inaccurate. I found the problem to be where the heats coming from. If it’s burning more on one side and your probs on the other side its gonna be different. When I have it over the gauge they reads the same. That’s why pros have multiple guages. All grills have hot spots so have your second thermometer on the other side and meet in the middle. It’s easy to dial in temp. 1st run ran a little hot the 2nd I had it holding at 225 for the 8 hours needed with little effort. Lots of youtub videos to help if needed. Well built, beginner friendly with much better flavor than pellet and so much easier than off set smokers

Initial burn went well – weird packaging event
Assembly went well Except I began to get pretty tense when the axle was no where to be found. Finally in desperation I tipped the assembly on its side (you are supposed to assemble this while it rests on its lid) and the axle was under the grill. You have to have the axle BEFORE tipping it right side up. Someone was packing this grill had to do this on purpose – every assembly video I watched this was not how it goes.I had my initial burn in and it went well, the temp wide open hit well over 475. I dialed it back and sprayed cooking oil on the inside lid and it cooled to 280. It does seem small to smoke ribs horizontally if that’s what you want to do so vertical seems the way to go unless you trim them down.Still that missing/hidden axle truly pi$$ed me off.

Best smoker ever
Absolutely love this smoker! Holds extremely steady temperatures, and one decent batch of charcoal and wood chunks gives you about 16 hours of burn time. I made my best brisket ever in this pit!

Smokin’ good
We’ve had a variety of smokers over the years. This one puts great flavor/smoke into the meat more than anything else we’ve tried. Charcoal/wood, definitely the way to go. Thankfully we love it, as we bought two right away. We look forward to weekends of smoking meat.

I think I’m in love.
I can’t believe I got this smoker for the price. Durable, holds heat, super easy temperature control. I put it together in about 45 minutes and was shocked at the weight and excellent craftsmanship of it. Only surprise was the amount of charcoal it required to get up to heat. I’m a novice so this probably normal. Highly suggest this smoker to any new smoker folk out there.

Great smoker
This is the best smoker I have owned to date it’s a very solid piece. It holds temperature for well over 8 hrs. The temperature gage is off but not by much I would still recommend getting a digital meat thermometer. If you are a first time smoker this is very easy to understand and I would definitely recommend it

OKJ Pro Is a Great Smoker for the Cost
This is my third smoker but my first drum smoker and so far this OKJ Pro runs easy with steady temps. This is nit-picking but the only issue so far is that it leaks slightly at two of the bolt holes where the two drum sections mount together. It does not affect the function of the smoker or the control of the temps. This should be an easy fix with some RTV High Temp Food Grade sealer. Overall, I’m satisfied with this product.

Love it so much I bought another one
This is my second Bronco but this time I went with the pro version. I own 7 different versions of smokers and the the Bronco drum smokers are my absolute favorites. They are just soo versatile I can smoke and grill on the same cook. And the food is always very juicy and delicious. It’s hard to beat meat dripping over the coals creating its own unique smoky flavor. I like having two of these with the extra cooking grates I can really make a ton of different foods at the same time. Which is helpful because I’m occasionally selling some of my bbq these days.

My first smoker after some serious research
My friends and family push Traeger (duh) but I didn’t have all the room. Plus, I have a nice Weber grill and wanted something to compliment it.I picked this for the dual cooking aspect. Again, I have looked up smokers and knew what to look for. Though there is a problem with the air intake stack, the fine folks at Char-broil are super quick to send out a replacement. Look this up, it is a known issue.Secondly, I wanted to get back to charcoal grilling. There is a difference, plain and simple. OKJ does this for me, too. You literally lift out the heat diffuser, remove the charcoal basket, flip over the heat diffuser then put the charcoal basket on top. Finally and obviously, you put the grill back on top. Tah freakin’ dah. It’s super simple to put together. You are literally building it upside down then turning right side up. It says you need 2 people to do that but you don’t. Test it first without killing yourself.Like I said, the only problem was the intake stack and they either fixed it in newer iterations or will replace once you register. So simple.Totally recommend. Especially if you are new to this and have limited space. You can get the larger size too, btw. The thing looks like a beast!!!
